Mount Arab may be approached from the West along route 3 from Watertown, NY,
or from the East along route 3 from Tupper Lake.
Come from the West if you are traveling up I-81, or you are coming from
western New York or points further in that direction.
If you are coming from New York City, or points
North and East, you will probably want to pass through Tupper Lake
on the way here.
Route 3 comes down to Tupper Lake from Plattsburgh in the Northeast.
Route 30 comes up into Tupper Lake from the Southeast through Indian
Lake, Blue Mountain Lake, and Long Lake.
If you are coming up from Albany, follow I-87 north to the Warrensburg
exit (Exit 23).
Head north on route 9, and a few miles north of Warrensburg turn left onto
route 28 as it cuts away to the northwest.
Follow route 28 through Weavertown, Northcreek, Indian Lake, and on to
Blue Mountain Lake.
At Blue Mountain, take route 30 to the right, to Long Lake and Tupper.
Turn off route 3 about 6 miles WEST of Tupper Lake onto the Conifer road.
Coming from the West, turn RIGHT.
If you are coming from the East through Tupper Lake, turn LEFT.
Two miles down the Conifer road you will come to a turn-off
onto a paved road to the LEFT.
This turn-off is marked with a sign that says "Mount Arab Road".
Turn to the LEFT onto this road and go 4 miles to the turn-around at the end.
The pavement ends here. You should see Mount Arab Lodge, the large 3-story
lodge on the slight rise above the turn-around to your left.
